VEC Civil Engineering Pty Ltd began operation under the banner of Van Ek Contracting Pty Ltd in 1994, as a bridge construction company.

Through innovation and quality the business quickly grew from a small, unknown entity to being recognised as the major bridge contractor in Tasmania.

Road and rail works were subsequently added to VECs capabilities and these divisions operate from Breadalbane, near Launceston.

VEC undertakes a diverse range of projects around Australia and overseas, assisted by sister company VEC Victoria operating from a permanent base at Port Melbourne,

In November 2008 the company launched its bold new name and image designed to take it into a successful and exciting future.
