VEC began producing its own Super T-beams in 1996 and was the first company in Australia to make Open Top T-beams.

The company now operates two precast yards in Tasmania, with two moulds for producing prestressed Super T-beams.

The large Super T mould incorporates the latest technology in multi strand stressing and stress transfer from mould to beam. It is 64 metres long and capable of producing beams of varying lengths, with depths from 1500mm to 1200mm.

The second Super T-beam mould is 40 metres long and capable of producing beams of varying lengths, with depths from 1000mm to 450mm.

Our precast yards also have the capacity to produce prestressed bridge planks from 600mm deep by 14000mm long, down to 450mm deep and 5000mm long.

VEC is the leading manufacturer in Tasmania of both prestressed concrete piles and conventionally reinforced concrete piles, as well as all other precast concrete items required for bridge and infrastructure projects such as precast barriers, parapets, endposts and new jersey barriers etc.

We also specialise in ‘one off’ precast items, in particular the design and production of requirements for bridges constructed under limited closure.
