The Nogoa River Bridge is on the Central Line of the Queensland Rail network, close to the town of Emerald. The bridge opened in 1914 making it over 100 years old. It was constructed to replace the original low timber bridge. The bridge straddles the Nogoa River, which is the water source for the Emerald township.

The Nogoa Bridge is 295 metres long and ranges in height from approximately seven to sixteen metres. The bridge is a steel truss construction, mass concrete piers and abutments and a timber transom deck. The rail line that crosses the bridge is part of the electrified rail network.

This project entailed the replacement of 553 sleepers and some paint repair under the transom soffits on the Nogoa River Bridge.

Starting in November 2015, the team worked during the hot summer months to have the works completed by February 2016.
