This project entailed the Design and Construction of 4 dual lane plank bridges to reinstate access between Tasmania’s East coast and Tasman Peninsula tourism road to replace flood damaged timber structures.

The Project

This project entailed the design and construction of four bridges on Wielangta Road Department of Primary Industries, Parks, Water and Environment (DPIPWE).

Innovation

The design and construction of these smaller-sized bridges fall within VEC’s core capabilities. The innovation on this project was clearly the use of the mass block retaining structure. This meant that safety innovations were achieved by eliminated working at height by building the wall incrementally and back filling as the wall was built.

By having an experience piling and foundation crew on site, the VEC team were able to deliver the project successfully for the DPIPWE.
