Through VEC’s strategic management, the time required for the bridge closure was limited and detour impacts on local community stakeholders were minimal. The original bridge was a tight single lane timber structure. It was replaced with a safer solution, being a dual lane concrete bridge with increased line of driving sight.
This project detailed the Design and Construction of a new dual lane concrete bridge 60m long 7.5m wide consisting of three spans. It has a total of nine super-tee beams. It has two piers consisting of three cylindrical columns in each, standing approximately 4.5m above water level. The contract included the demolition of the old timber and steel bridge.
