VEC have completed many bridges throughout the state of Victoria and Tasmania over the last few years. Below is a short summary of a selection of these bridges, including construction time and labour needed to complete the project.

The Projects

Lyness Road (VIC)
Design and Construct 20m long x 5.1m wide single span single lane bridge with 800mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete T-beams with 180mm thick in-situ poured concrete deck. Low performance W-beam bridge barrier with 4No. 15.76m XT2000 approach terminations. 310UC158 Steel piled foundation with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Crushed rock gravel approaches. Construction Time – approx. 4 weeks for 3 construction workers.

Mutual Road (TAS)

Design and Construct 60m long x 5.1m wide 3 span single lane bridge with 800mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete tee beams with 180mm thick in-situ concrete deck. Low performance W-beam bridge barrier with BCTA terminations to suit. 310UC158 steel piled foundations (2 per abutment) with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. 2 No. piers are 4.8m & 6.2m high respectively with 310UC158 steel piled foundations (6 per pier) and in-situ poured pile caps with post stressed pre-cast concrete stack up blade piers. 2 coat spray seal approaches. Construction Time – approx. 10 weeks for 3 construction workers.

House Creek (VIC)

Design and Construct 26m long x 12.5m wide single span dual lane & footpath bridge with 1200mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete tee beams with 180mm thick in-situ concrete deck. Full asphalt over bridge and road approaches. Regular performance 2 rail RHS bridge barrier with BCTA approach terminations and pedestrian barrier to footpath. 310UC158 steel piled foundations (5 per abutment @ 54m each.) with concrete abutments and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Footpaths are also constructed underneath each abutment with extra gabion basket retaining walls around each abutment. Construction Time – approx. 10 weeks for 3 construction workers.

Ganes Access Road (VIC)

Design and Construct18m long x 5.1m wide single span single lane bridge with 800mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete tee beams with 180mm thick in-situ poured concrete deck. Low performance W-beam bridge barrier with 3No. 15.76m XT2000 approach terminations & 1No. Bullnose end to suit. 350 sq. pre-cast concrete piled foundation (5 per abutment) with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Crushed rock gravel approaches. Construction Time – approx. 4 weeks for 3 construction workers.

Upper Gellibrand Road (VIC)

Design and Construct 17m long x 5.1m wide single span single lane bridge with 800mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete tee beams with 180mm thick in-situ poured concrete deck. Low performance 2 rail RHS bridge barrier with 4No. BCTA/Bullnose approach terminations to suit. 350 sq. pre-cast concrete piled foundation (2 per abutment) with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Crushed rock gravel approaches. Construction Time – approx. 4 weeks for 3 construction workers.

Carlisle Valley Road (VIC)

Design and Construct 13m long x 4.8m wide single span single lane bridge with 600 x 600mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete deck planks post-tensioned after placement. Low performance W-beam bridge barrier with 4No. BCTA/Bullnose approach terminations to suit. 350 sq. pre-cast concrete piled foundation (3 per abutment) with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Crushed rock gravel approaches. Construction Time – approx. 2 weeks for 3 construction workers.

Barham River Road (VIC)

Design and Construct 20m long x 8.4m wide dual span dual lane bridge with 1200W x 450mm deep pre-cast pre-stressed concrete deck planks post-tensioned after placement. Low performance 2 rail RHS bridge barrier with 4No. BCTA/Bullnose approach terminations to suit.

310UC158 Steel piled foundation (4 per abutment) with concrete abutment and wingwalls and rock scour protection. Pier construction consists of piled foundation and pre-cast and in-situ poured pile cap with pre-cast crosshead and in-situ poured round pier columns. Crushed rock gravel approaches. Construction Time – approx. 6 weeks for 3 construction workers.
